APGA supports Otti’s proposal to eliminate the pension for former governors

The Abia State House of Assembly and Governor Alex Otti deserve praise from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for doing away with the law that suggested pensions for the state’s past governors and their deputies.

APGA supports Otti's proposal to eliminate the pension for former governors

This comes as the party has denounced Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for allegedly making disparaging remarks about APGA and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

In a statement, the National Organizing Secretary, Emmanuel Igbokwe, and National Vice Chairman, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, of APGA praised the bravery of the governor and the parliamentarians in repealing the pension law, which they deemed to be self-serving.

The party said that the law that was repealed “only protected the selfish interests of the few that had made themselves so rich at the expense of the people,” never serving the interests of the general public.

In order to encourage public interest and developments across all sectors and strata of society, APGA maintained that “Abia’s resources should be allocated evenly.”

The party did, however, implore the governor to keep his campaign pledge to pay off the backlog of employee salary arrears and pension arrears that accumulated while his predecessors were in office.

The APGA stated that the “gross neglect and careless attitude of previous administration” was to blame for the wretched lives many state retirees now lead.

since a result, it pleaded with the governor to spare the Abia pensioners their optimism, since they are currently anticipating the governor’s pledge to settle their outstanding debts.

In addition to applauding the governor for his efforts to advance the state’s infrastructure, the party pushed him to pay off the salary arrears owed to Abia employees from past administrations.

Regarding the controversy surrounding Aba’s 24-hour power supply after the opening of Geometric Power Plant, APGA advised the governor’s media handlers to steer clear of needless media misinformation.

The APGA stated that “the public should be permitted to sing the governor’s praises based on verifiable evidence, even though the governor’s role in facilitating the project is commendable.”

The arrival of the Geometric Power Plant Aba has made us all pleased. Additionally, we have high hopes for the improvement of Aba’s public electricity supply in the coming days. However, APGA stated that at this time, the blind man may only be informed that the soup lacks salt and not enough oil.

The APGA stated that Alhaji Ganduje, the former governor of Kano, had “no moral justification to criticize any governor considering his woeful outing as Governor” in response to the purported anti-Soludo remarks.

Ganduje’s statement that “re-electing APGA in Anambra will be a political dislocation” was characterized by APGA as “a reckless outburst.”

The party said that “if Ganduje had done well as Governor for eight years,” the APC would not have lost Kano in the elections of 2023.

In addition, the APGA stated that “because of Governor Soludo’s efforts and security proactive initiatives, Anambra is relatively peaceful, while all the APC states in the South East have the worst cases of insecurity.”

“APC National Chairman’s remark on the political fortunes of APGA is reckless,” the statement said in part. He need to cover his face in shame for his poor performance as governor, which cost the APC Kano in 2023.

“He needs to first distance himself from the disgrace of the widely shared video, which featured a person who looked like him reading a script for a film. Nigerians still harbor a shameful recollection of that ridiculousness.

What additional political grudges, victimization, and removal of respected Emirs who disagreed with him did Ganduje leave behind in Kano? Unfortunately, his actions and incompetence have reversed 20 years of progress for the most populous state in the North. The people of Anambra don’t require his unwanted, poisonous political advice in order to realize what they need.

The APGA praised Governor Soludo for his enormous developmental achievements, claiming that they had made Anambra a model state in Nigeria.

The party said that within the first two years of his government, Governor Soludo had achieved unquestionable successes that had made him a hero.

APGA is incredibly proud of Professor Soludo for transforming Anambra State’s governance. With his accomplishments in the last two years, he has taken charge of Anambra State’s affairs and left a lasting legacy across the entire region. We encourage him to keep up the pace because we are proud of him.
